Inverde vzw, a non-profit company in Belgium, wants to improve the knowledge of sustainable and multi-purpose management of forests, green and nature in general, of professional managers as well as the general public in Flanders. Inverde has involved itself in the European Distance Learning Project in Forestry. In today's high-speed society people usually do not have the time or possibility to study full time. Instead they search for alternative forms of learning. This project will help forest owners and forestry students all over Europe. As a result, they will be able to follow online courses, about the different kinds of managements in forests, from their home, and without being bound by time constraints. I was asked to write an online course about forest animal management. It will help forest owners to learn about the importance of biodiversity of a forest, special habitats like wildlife trees, the structure of a forest in relation to the wildlife, and animal management (when needed), especially in the case of threatened animals. This course provides many pictures, questions and exercises, and will be available online from January 2009. |
