Participatory natural resources management in the tonle sap region. Terminal report
Abstract/OtherAbstract :
The project developed a community-based natural resource management as an acceptable and legal use of land in Cambodia. 130,000 ha of forest land and fihseries resources are now protected and manged by communities in the privince of Siem Reap. It recovnized that community-based natural resource management is essential to the protectionand managemenet of natural resources. The project ensured that forests and fisheries resources are productive in the future and directly address the Government's stated priorities of food security and poverty alleviation. At closing of the project a land law, a forest law and a fisheries law was passed and every effort to implement all relevant legislation.
