When microprocessor technology is applied to an old established standard for monitoring whole blood coagulation, it removed the methods from the specialized research reference laboratory and put it into the realm of the clinical laboratory. Now, Thrombelastography of whole blood clot formation and lysis is faster, more accurate and easier to interpert. In addition we are now able to acquire and interpert a new variable, the crosslinking activity (factor XIII), which is due solely to the speed of data acquistion and processing of the microprocessor. |
