METABOLIC STUDY AT OBESITY V. ACTION ON NORADRENALIN IN PERSONS WITH NORMAL BODY WEIGHT AND IN THE OBESE (METABOLICKE STUDIE PRI OBEZITE V. PUSOBENI NORADRENALINU U OSOB S NORMALNI VAHOU A U OBEZNICH),
Abstract/OtherAbstract :
A report of findings in a test made to determine causes of obesity and its relation to metabolic characteristics. Noradrenalin was administered to an approximately equal number of obese and normal-weight individuals. The following reactions were noted: (1) The amount of non-esterified fatty acids was higher among the obese group. (2) Both groups exhibited similar increases in blood pressure and similar decreases in pulse rate. (3) Ketonemia and total ketosubstances in the blood were higher for the obese. (4) The obese had a higher O2 requirement. (5) Output value of glyceria was higher for the obese., Unedited rough draft trans. of Ceskoslovenska Gastroenterologie a Vyziva, v17 n7 p422-9 1963, by L.
