Medical technology is the driving force behind the current transformations of medical practice. Doctors are required to think and to act as managers and technologists. Management of medical technology is a new intellectual space that integrates business, engineering, and medicine. MMT is the most appropriate field of study for the new phenomenon of the multiple role doctors and other medical professionals are taking in the modern health care environment. By using methodologies developed in the business disciplines, MMT is a powerful tool for health care managers and for doctors. As medical care is increasingly becoming technology-driven, MMT should be an integral part of medical education and advanced training. |
