Late Jurassic Algae from Honshu and Shikoku, Japan
Abstract/OtherAbstract :
Nine species in nine genera of Algae are described from the Upper Jurassic Soma series in Fukushima Prefecture and the Torinosu series in Kochi Prefecture. Among them the genus Polygonella is described for the first time from Japan. That genus is fairly common in the Jurassic of Iraq, Syria, Switzerland and Austria. Marinella lugeoni Pfender, 1939 was reported in Japan as Archaeolithothamnium somensis Endo, 1961. This is an interesting species in that it is always found in association with Polygonella or Girvannella from Spain, Yugoslavia, Angola, Japan and Texas.
