Ethics of stem cell research
Abstract/OtherAbstract :
The President's Council on Bioethics was created in November 2001 with a mission to advise the President on bioethical issues that may emerge as a consequence of advances in biomedical science and technology. This is the full-text of a paper by Gene Outka, Professor of Philosophy & Christian Bioethics, Yale University, which was first presented at a Council meeting in April 2002. The paper analyses the ethical issues of the status of the embryo and aborted foetuses, and the uses of adult stem cells, from the "right", "middle", and "left" views of the spectrum.
