Abstract/OtherAbstract:
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate the accuracy of transvaginal three-dimensional hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography using SonoVue(3D-SonoVue-HyCoSy) in the assessment of tubal patency. METHODS: 75 infertile patients were recruited to undergo 3D-SnonVue-HyCoSy before diagnostic laparoscopy. Tubal patency was assessed by automated 3D-coded contrast imaging during hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography, and the findings were subsequently compared with the results of standard laparoscopy(lap and dye) methodology. RESULTS: 150 fallopian tubes were assessed. The sensitivity of 3D-SonoVue-HyCoSy for detecting tubal patency was 93.5% with a specificity of 86.3%; the positive and negative predictive values were 87.8% and 92.6%, respectively. The diagnostic accuracy was 90.0%. The positive rates of 3D-SonoVue-HyCoSy vs Lap and Dye were 73/150 and 68/150, which yielded a difference that was not significant (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: This study confirmed the clinical value of 3D-SonoVue-HyCoSy as a primary investigatory tool for tubal patency. 3D-SonoVue-HyCoSy should be considered a practical, non-invasive method for evaluating tubal patency.
