The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 specify prohibitions concerning discrimination against individuals with disabilities. The ADA is now expanded to cover all employers of 15 or more persons. In addition, the modified ADA provides the right for a person who believes that they have been discriminated against to sue the employer. Optometrists may be called as expert witnesses so there is a need to understand the legislation. |
