There are seven simple steps hospitals can take to address the development of department managers: Survey the development needs of department managers. Prioritize development needs. Implement results-oriented, hands-on education. Implement tracking reports and review sessions. Provide accessible tactical financial management support. Create top-level mentoring relationships for managers. Celebrate successes.
