There can be few situations in all of science which invite or reward the reporting of chance associations, yet the nature of surveillance for potential adverse events in clinical medicine demands it. We excuse the usual rigour of proof in these ordinarily as their purpose is to trigger an alarm which alerts observers to similar occurrences.
