The effect of cigarette smoking on plaque formation.

Abstract/OtherAbstract:
A total of 495 patients, including 237 smokers, participated in this controlled study of the effect of cigarette smoking on plaque accumulation. Clinical examination revealed no significant differences in plaque formation whether the subjects were nonsmokers or smoked an average of 10, 20, 30 or 40 or more cigarettes daily.
