Abstract/OtherAbstract:
The present status of percutaneous coronary angioplasty is presented, with a brief outline of current technique, the technical and clinical indications for the method, and the results being obtained. Coronary angioplasty is only applicable in a minority of patients currently undergoing coronary angiography for ischaemic heart disease, but even with its present technical limitations, the results being obtained and its obvious advantages in selected cases have assured its status as a significant advance in the treatment of coronary disease.
