The broken epidural catheter: to remove or not to remove?

An epidural catheter breaking in a patient rarely occurs nowadays, with data suggesting an incidence of 1 in 60 000. This low incidence reflects advances in catheter construction and use of more robust synthetic polyamides such as nylon.
