Abstract/OtherAbstract:
A recent survey of ED managers shows that volumes continue to increase, and more of the same is expected in 2010. However, there are several strategies ED managers can use to help offset the steady flow of new patients. They include: Placing a physician in triage during the ED's busiest hours. Use "flex staffing" based on peak hours. Constantly measure demand and adjust staffing accordingly. Study local demographics to help you in your long-range planning process.
