Inactivation of Mismatch Repair genes in Lynch Syndrome, caused by inherited mutations, decreases the ability to repair DNA errors throughout life. This deficit may allow the development of any tumor type. Nevertheless, the Syndrome develops a specific tumor spectrum associated with the disease. We think that such spectrum of tumors would be related to the action of certain endogenous carcinogens such as bile acids and estrogens that aggravate the inherited defect. J. Surg.
