Abstract/OtherAbstract:
The Conservative Party is against the centralised approach of the national IT programme, calling it a 'pound 20bn shambles'. Conservative MP Richard Bacon has called for local purchasing decisions, which is likely to be echoed in party policy. The programme's perceived lack of infrastructure has been compared to eastern bloc tourist developments.
