The jubilee Symposium on the 80th Anniversary of the University Department of Dermatology and Venereology, Zagreb University Hospital Center and School of Medicine was held on December 9, 2008, honored by the presence of invited persons, representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Croatia, Academy of Medical Sciences of Croatia, Zagreb University School of Medicine and Zagreb University Hospital Center as sponsors of the meeting, friends, workers and retired workers of the Department. The Symposium took place in the Department premises on Salata, where it has been successfully performing its rich professional, educational and scientific activities as the leading dermatology and venereology institution in Croatia. In the times of great scientific advancements and achievements that have been emerging very quickly indeed, our Department found a successful way to keep pace with the European and international trends. These 80 years were not always equally favorable in terms of personnel, technical or teaching processes. Yet, our Department managed to remain the largest and the leading one in Croatia, as illustrated by performance of particular segments that have reached the level of excellence centers. We organized this Symposium on the 80th anniversary of our Department with occasional exhibition and monograph as a permanent pledge of dermatology and venereology to the Croatian and Zagreb medicine and as a stronghold for the new generations of our dermatologists-venereologists. Special reference was given to subspecialist activities such as pediatric dermatology, dermatologic oncology and laboratory diagnosis at the Department. The event was enriched with exhibition of the books and publications by members of the Department personnel, Professor Rupec's illustrated poetry and works of art by colleague from our Department Dragomir Budimcić. |
