Abstract/OtherAbstract:
We report the successful management of bacterial endocarditis of the mitral valve, caused by Staphylococcus epidermidis, in a 34-month-old boy with acute lymphocytic leukemia who had been receiving immunosuppressive therapy. M-mode echocardiography provided early detection of valvular vegetations and documented the evolution of valvular involvement during the course of the illness.
