Spontaneous regeneration of the mandible following hemimandibulectomy is rarely reported. The main source of osteogenesis seems to be the periosteum. The critical elements being a pre-existing chronic infection and the age of the patient with immobilisation playing an insignificant role. This paper reports such a regeneration following hemimandibular resection for osteomyelitis and reviews the relevant literature. |
