Abstract/OtherAbstract:
This paper makes comparisons of some of the pharmacological properties of the opiate analgesics and the tricyclic antidepressants in order to justify the clinical examination of the tricyclics as potential analgesic or proanalgesic agents in man. Preliminary animal data suggest that the tricyclic agent clomipramine (Anafranil, Geigy) will potentiate the effects of morphine, pentazocine and cyclazocine.
