In a recent manuscript Raps et al (1) used the correlation between sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) and the normalised APC sensitivity ratio (nAPCsr) as an argument for using SHBG as a useful marker to estimate thrombotic risk of a hormonal contraceptive preparation. They present a log-normal association of SHBG with nAPCsr with an R(2) linear value of 0.476. We had the opportunity to verify this association in the large seven pill study in which nAPCsr was known (2). © 2012 International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis. |
