Abstract/OtherAbstract:
The second session of the 5th CFN symposium in Stockholm 1997 on effects of toxicants on gene expression and intracellular signalling, was entitled "Cell cycle and cell death". Five scientists were invited to give talks about cell cycle and cancer (Anders Zetterberg), regulation of p53-induced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis (Klas Wiman), calcium signalling and protease activation in apoptosis (Sten Orrenius), signalling alterations and apoptosis in neurodegeneration (Pierluigi Nicotera) and neurotoxicity and neuroinvasion of prions (Adriano Aguzzi). 12 short communications from the poster session were also presented. The posters were about methodological development, studies of xenobiotics effects on specific cellular functions and gene regulation.
