Abstract/OtherAbstract:
Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) of the bone is a rare vascular tumor. It accounts for less than 1% of all malignant bone tumors and usually follows an indolent course. Presenting clinical features include pain, swelling, and pathologic fractures. Most commonly the skull, axial skeleton, and lower extremities are involved. EHE can display malignant behavior with metastases in 25% of cases. In an approximately 15% of cases, EHE can result in death. We present a case of EHE in a 75-year-old man who developed back pain following an admission for melena. Bone scanning was performed initially and at 8 weeks, following the development of further sites of pain.
