Abstract/OtherAbstract:
The methods of protection of the myocardium during surgical operations on the heart are described. The relative merits of coronary perfusion and cold arrest of the heart are discussed together with the disadvantages of each technique. The possible place of induced chemical arrest is discussed in relation to coronary perfusion. The technical considerations which affect the choice of method is also considered.
