To the Editor: The selection of controls in observational studies is challenging. The propensity-score methods use baseline variables as predictors and group assignment as the outcome.(1) The resulting model is applied to identify controls whose probability of receiving the intervention is close to that of patients who do receive the intervention. In theory, this approach allows apple-to-apple comparison of groups.(1) This goal is not adequately accomplished in the analysis by Fraser et al.
