To the Editor: The negative results of the ATLANTIC (Administration of Ticagrelor in the Cath Lab or in the Ambulance for New ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction to Open the Coronary Artery) trial reported by Montalescot et al. (Sept. 11 issue)(1) are not unexpected, since previous pharmacodynamic studies(2),(3) have shown that several hours are required to achieve effective platelet inhibition in patients with myocardial infarction who receive a standard loading dose of ticagrelor.
