A 15-year-old female suffered from a persistent ulcer which developed in her knee. At the ninth operation, intraarticular knee arthrodesis was performed but the ulcer recurred. The most effective treatment was neither thorough debridement nor a free musculocutaneous flap covering, but the application of a plaster cast. The condition is thought to have been Munchausen syndrome. |
