Abstract/OtherAbstract:
The effectiveness of the material management department and of the hospital depends upon the effective utilization of human resources. As a manager of people, as well as dollars and space, it is important to realize that significant results cannot be accomplished solely by power, prestige and authority. Real power is born out of the respect employees feel you are giving them and their concerns. The atmosphere of mutual respect is achieved through effective communication, motivation and leadership. As material managers, you are in the role of liasion between employees and administration. It is necessary that you have a full appreciation of the needs of the hospital, of your employees and of yourself. To successfully manage material, you must first successfully manage people.
