Abstract/OtherAbstract:
This study analyzes 72 cases of myocardial infarction occurring in a rural practice over a ten year period. Only ten of these cases occurred in the native population, which makes up 50 percent of the practice population and otherwise accounts for 80 percent of hospital admissions (in pediatrics, 90 percent). While myocardial infarction appears less prevalent in rural areas than in the city, it seems more likely to be fatal.
