Escalating challenges to security are being faced today by healthcare security with 80 to 85% of violent incidents taking place in the Emergency Department, the authors report. Despite these challenges, today's access control and other security technology breakthroughs allow for more people to be protected, more space secured and more profound security management programs to be employed, they say, also illustrating how good facility management/design contributes to incident reduction.
