Abstract/OtherAbstract:
Survival of several strains of methanogens during short-term and long-term conservation was tested. If oxygenation is prevented during storage, freezing of cultures in the growth medium conserves methanogens for at least 4 months, and organisms from colonies on agar slants were still viable after one year. Cell suspensions in glycerol stored at - 18°C survived for 20 months.
