Abstract/OtherAbstract:
We wanted to bring to your attention some errors in the report published in your journal by Michielsen and Coomans(1). In Table no. 4, on page 1336, the reported data for Tefekli and colleagues (2) and Bhansali and colleagues (3) does not match the data from their published reports. Michielsen and Coomans state that Tefekli reports 1/47 urethral strictures for the monopolar arm and 2/49 strictures for the bipolar arm(1). However, Tefekli and colleagues report 1/47 and 3/49 for the monopolar and bipolar arms, respectively(2). In addition to this, whilst Michielsen reports 4/34 strictures in the monopolar arm and 5/33 strictures in the bipolar arm for the study conducted by Bhansali and colleagues (3), the report published by Bhansali reports that there were 33 patients in the monopolar arm and 34 patients in the bipolar arm, suggesting that the number of urethral strictures for monopolar TURP would be 4/33, rather than 4/34, and that the number of strictures for bipolar TURP would be 5/34,rather than 5/33. We understand that these errors are minor and will not have an impact on the overall results of the report (1), but felt that it would be important to inform the general reader and those which may use this data in the future.
