This Law sets forth the relationship between the Seventh-Day Adventists and the Italian State. The State now recognizes the civil law effects of marriages celebrated by Seventh-Day Adventist church officials who are Italian citizens. Marriage certificates are to be filled out in duplicate, with the original sent within 5 days to the local government officials to enter in the marriage registry. The civil law effects of the marriage take effect from the date of the ceremony. Law Number 517 of 22 November 1988 contains the same provisions as applied to the Assembly of God in Italy.
