As part of an action research project, a thorough review was undertaken into the system for linen acquisition, distribution and usage in a large metropolitan hospital. As a result, new systems of management control were introduced, with considerable cost savings resulting. The project illustrated the importance to effective hospital management of the implementation of systematic review and redesign processes to incorporate measurement and accountability into management systems. |
