In the wake of last week's criminal indictments of three Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. executives, the question on everyone's mind is: How far up the chain of command will the investigation go? Some observers say the feds are looking toward the top. Meanwhile, Thomas Frist Jr., M.D., Columbia's new chief executive officer, in an interview with Modern Healthcare, vowed to build a new value system and corporate culture to turn the company around.
