A 55-year-old man with high-grade invasive urothelial carcinoma presented for evaluation with FDG PET/CT. An approximately 6 × 3-cm hypermetabolic (maximum standard uptake value, 13) soft-tissue mass involving the right atrial appendage is noted. This mass was overlooked on a dedicated contrast CT performed 2 months before, as the mass might have been misinterpreted as incomplete contrast mixing in the right atrium. This case demonstrates how FDG PET may detect a cardiac metastasis which was overlooked on contrast-enhanced CT. |
