Evaluation of trainee competence.

Abstract/OtherAbstract:	The ongoing evaluation of endoscopic competence is an essential element of every medical and surgical endoscopic training program. The primary goal of this evaluation is to assure the greatest benefit for patients with digestive diseases. Observational methods to assess competence plus current guideline recommendations for certification and proctoring are discussed in this article.
