In order to acknowledge the rights of the patient and the needs of the laboratory within a facility, ASCLS believes that telling the truth and respect for individuals be guiding principles. We acknowledge that this will not be easy; old protective habits of institutions and individuals die hard. Some may be unwilling to pay the price for abiding by these principles and will take another view. And this is their choice. The choice of ethical systems is, after all, the right of the individual. |
