Abstract/OtherAbstract:
In summary, corporations large and small that hope to survive and prosper in the future will be those that learn how to unleash the awesome power of their employees. This involves introducing a healthy dose of democracy into the workplace. It involves focusing on the employees and helping them to perfect their talents--to be all that they can be. It involves caring about them and doing everything possible to assist them. It involves bringing them in as partners and replacing old competitive and adversarial relationships with cooperative ones. It involves giving them some share in all aspects of the business from planning to marketing. It involves reinstituting trust and faith between labor and management. Those corporations that choose to empower their employees will find that the investment pays handsome and immediate returns. In the end, the workers, management, and the nation will be the beneficiaries as America again takes its place as the greatest economic power in the history of the world.
