The purpose of this pilot study was to examine the decision-making process of patients with arterial occlusive disease threatened with limb loss in choosing treatment options and to provide validation of the decision styles described in the literature. A convenience sample of eight subjects participated in a structured interview as close as possible to the time the options for treatment were presented to them. Analysis of the data obtained suggested similarities to the styles described in the literature, with variations to suggest a modification of the model. |
