Abstract/OtherAbstract:
The Drug Metabolism Discussion Group is an informal Europe-wide association for scientists engaged in research and development within drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics and other related disciplines of the pharmaceutical industry. The group organizes an annual Open Meeting, alongside training courses and 1-day 'hot topic' meetings throughout the year. This year's Open Meeting was held at Robinson College, Cambridge University, UK. The Drug Metabolism Discussion Group has existed for 40 years and the meeting was a celebration of the group's longevity, with the usual forum for scientific presentation and discussion for the industry. Once again, a strong representation from over 50 member companies was achieved at the meeting, along with a number of invited speakers and students from the academic community. In total, the meeting received 144 delegates, which, in light of the changes occurring in the pharmaceutical industry over the last 12 months, demonstrated the importance and value of the meeting to its members. The latest research in drug metabolism was openly discussed; key issues facing DMPK science were debated in the newly implemented 'break-out' sessions and the anniversary debate provided much amusement.
