Aldosterone plays an important role in the pathophysiology of sodium/potassium and water homeostasis of the body. It is nowadays clear that aldosterone contributes also to the development of cardio-vascular diseases, such as hypertension, left ventricular hypertrophy, heart failare, renal failare and others, by direct effets on vesels and the heart. The global view on pathophysiology, on harmful effects of aldosterone and on aldosterone in hypertension and heart failare is presented. |
