A cadaveric dissection of the calvarium of a 90year old woman demonstrated a left superior anastomotic vein of Trolard communicating indirectly with the superior sagittal sinus via a left lateral lacunae. This is an anatomical variant contrary to the textbook description of a direct communication between the vein of Trolard and the superior sagittal sinus. A literature search failed to identify a previous description of this variation. Possible clinical implications of this finding will be discussed. |
