The problem of paresthesia after dental procedures has existed for years. The literature presents several simple precautions dentists can take to avoid paresthesia caused by injection in nonsurgical cases. Although the risks of complications are still extremely small (1:785,000), there has been an increase recently in the number of cases reported. Though not all instances cause total paresthesia, these incidents do involve prolonged numbness, which is of concern to both the patient and practitioner. |
