It was great to have my article on attachment theory, Linking early
healthy attachment with long-term mental health, published in last
month's issue of Kai Tiaki Nursing New Zealand (pp12-14). I was only sorry there was not space to include some useful recourses. But here they are now, for those who want to investigate the subject further. The First Three Years Last Forever, a DVD produced by the Brainwave Trust (www.brainwave trust.org.nz), shows how loving relationships in the first three years of life affect brain development. A new DVD, Why The Early Years Count, has information on the latest findings from brain research. Look at You, a DVD for parents, produced by Counties Manukau District Health Board, is about responding to babies' social and emotional needs in the first three months. It is distributed through Plunket and is available from www.safh.org.nz. Mary Hammonds, RN, RM, Dunedin |
