Full Text: NZNO president Nano Tunnicliff has resigned from her rote as specialty clinical nurse, rheumatology, at Nelson Marlborough District Health Board (DHB), effective from the end of last month.

"I've resigned to pursue a better work/tile balance and to give the presidential rote the focus it requires to be done well. My predecessor as president, Marion Guy, resigned from her job at Tauranga Hospital early in her presidency, which indicates the amount of time the presidential rote requires," she said.

Tunnicliff said she had been finding it increasingly difficult "to juggle all the balls" and believed if, as president, she was promoting a better work/life balance for nurses, she should "walk the talk".

The DHB had been very supportive in enabling her to fulfil her presidential rote but she had made a personal decision to resign in order to do the rote better, she said. "I am still intending to stand for president for another term."

Tunnicliff will continue nursing in a casual rote and is pursuing a business idea.
