Full Text: Three Auckland Pacific primary health care organisations (PHOs), Langamalie (Tongan Health Society), TaPaskefika and AuckPac, have started building an integrated family health centre (IFHC) in Mount Wellington. The three PHOs have combined forces to form the Alliance Health Plus Trust. The trust put forward a proposal when the Ministry of Health last year called for expressions of interest (EoI) from primary health care providers able to make large-scale changes to the way they delivered heath care. The trust's proposal, which covers a Pacific population of close to 73,000, was one of the nine successful EoIs. The trust is now embarking on building two IFHCs, the first beginning last month.

Minister of Pacific Island Affairs Georgina te Heuheu, said the trust was a great example of Pacific providers working together, embracing the best from their practices and delivering improved services to their people.
