Children's secretary Ed Balls has confirmed that he will be
speaking at the Unite/CPHVA Annual Professional Conference, to be held
in Southport on 14 to 16 October.
Unite/CPHVA lead professional officer Obi Amadi stated: 'We are delighted that Ed Balls will be attending this year's conference. We hope that he will be able to address issues regarding numbers of healthcare staff, and resources and training needed to effectively deliver proposals outlined in Healthy lives, brighter futures, as well as to provide an update on the government's position on its previous aim to provide every secondary and primary school in England with a specialist school nurse by 2010.'
Due to the cabinet reshuffle, the Action on Health Visiting programme is expected to be launched by the new health secretary Andy Burnham.
The closing date for conference poster entries on a range of subjects including leadership and safeguarding is 16 August. To submit a poster, see: http://profile.conference-services.net
