Full Text: NZNO's publications list is growing. Several new fact sheets have been developed, a number of position statements updated, and summary sheets of recent NZNO research produced. The latter includes one on the recent survey of younger nurses and on the 2011 NZNO employment survey. New position statements include a definition of nursing, one on physician assistants and another on the role of the nurse in the delivery of end-of-life decisions and care. Most fact sheets and position statements are downloadable, with some papers, eg the statement 2020 and Beyond: A vision for nursing available for a small charge, Summary versions are usually available free. All new and updated publications have been printed using NZNO's new official kowhaiwhai design (pictured opposite). This incorporates mangopare (hammerhead shark) and koru shapes. It is symbolic of NZNO, its members and staff, and NZNO's commitment to a bicultural partnership. The repeated kowhaiwhai pattern represents balance and shows the continuity of health and illness, life and death.

Some new publications are being developed on such issues as Rongoa Maori and complementary therapies in nursing practice, a position statement on health literacy and a guideline on serious and sentinel events.
